I had a song pop into my head a little while ago.
Yes, David Bowie. Quite a few David Bowie songs have popped into my head since reading of his death. Space Oddity was the soundtrack in my brain for the first 24 hours, even before viewing this:
Life is filled with changes. Some bad, some good. I’ve had my share of the former as well as the latter in the past few years.
One thing that has been on my mind lately is that sometimes, when things just aren’t working the way you need them to, it is necessary to initiate change. Not all of the changes need be big – sometimes it’s a little thing here or there. Today, Matthew had to change his violin strings again, and we met a violin maker/repairer about whom I had heard many great things. He and his wife were very interesting, likable people.
He asked Matthew about his practicing habits, which are pretty good at this point. And he said that back in his native South Africa, they have a saying that anyone can eat an elephant – one bite at a time. Not that we would ever want to eat such a majestic creature, but the idea is logical. Anything can be accomplished, as long as one is willing to work at it a little bit at a time.
So teeny tiny steps forward, and on to changes!
