Today’s rules can be found here.
I’m using the word “Journey.”
I’ve always loved this quote:
In my case, the journey of a thousand miles, or any miles, begins with four new tires. Unless I *want* to hydroplane and get into a wreck the next time it rains. You know that penny rule? I don’t think I could even put a penny in the tires.
This will be the first time I’ve purchased new tires for the van since we bought it in 2011, and we’ve gone almost 68,000 miles, so it’s way past time.
I didn’t want to buy a van. I wanted to buy a Camry, or some sort of sedan, because the kids were finally out of car seats, and I think even when we were discussing the purchase of a vehicle, I knew that as far as my marriage goes, I had one foot out the door and another on a banana peel.
Thank God for tax refunds, without which I would have no way to finance $800 worth of new tires… (including tax, installation, etc.)
Let’s just hope this doesn’t end the way of the tires that we bought for Adam’s Mercury Mountaineer… Within two months, I managed to get into the first accident that was ever my fault, and I totaled it. (The Jeep I hit on 34th Street had barely a dent in the bumper.) 25 years of safe driving record all down the drain because I took my eyes off the road long enough to press a button at the wrong moment in time.
Sometimes, it really does suck to be me.
